SEATTLE, Wash. — Public Health Seattle & King County announced Thursday they will soon require healthcare facilities in King County to report hospital associated Aspergillus infections.

“This could make sure all facilities are tracking and reporting these infections in a standardized way,” said Dr. Jeffery Duchin who is the health officer for Public Health – Seattle & King County.

Right now Individual cases of Aspergillus are not reported. But outbreaks of the fungus, which are two or more healthcare-related cases, are reportable.
