A13-year-old Idaho boy was treated in February 2019 for a hybrid influenza strain that contained genetic components of both seasonal influenza and 2009 influenza A(H1N1), according to a CDC report. The boy, who had no underlying health conditions, presented at an Idaho emergency department with fever, dry cough, sore throat, headache, and weakness. A rapid influenza diagnostic test confirmed he was positive for influenza A. The boy received oseltamivir and recovered.
