Flu season is increasing across the country — it’s now widespread in 16 states, including parts of the South, West, and Northeast.  “The flu season is just getting started; elevated flu activity is expected to continue for weeks,” the CDC said in its most recent report.

New York‘s Health Commissioner said flu activity is prevalent in the state and urged people to get the vaccine. The state reported 691 hospitalizations and two deaths in children related to flu. Health care workers who are not vaccinated are required to wear masks around patients.  Six children have died so far this season.
