The Inner Mongolia Health Authority of Mainland China announced a confirmed case of bubonic plague Wednesday. According to the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (computer translated), the patient is a herdsman from Siziwang Banner, Ulanqab.
He is reported to be in stable condition and being treated in a local hospital. Four close contacts have been isolated for medical observation. Currently, there are no signs or symptoms recognized in the contacts.
