Ukrainian health officials reported yesterday that because of the large number of adults infected with measles this year, the government made the decision to fund free vaccines for adults at risk, according to the Ministry of Health.
Since the beginning of the year, 40% of all patients are adults. In particular, it refers to the spread of morbidity in groups living in a common space (military, ATO fighters, students), as well as among educators and doctors.
the Ministry of Health has ordered an additional 392,000 doses of vaccines for the prevention of measles. An additional volume of vaccines will be procured for the savings made by international organizations from the 2017 budget.
According to the operational data of the Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, in the 22nd week of 2018, 1132 people (463 adults and 669 children) suffered from measles.

For the first five months of 2018, 19,249 people– 7,825 adults and 11,424 children have contracted measles. 11 fatalities have been reported–seven children and four adults.
Lviv has seen the most cases with 2639, followed by Transcarpathian (2442), Ivano-Frankivsk (2332) and Odesa (1782). The capital of Kiev (Kjiv) has seen 1362 cases since the beginning of the year.
